Comic Timing – Episode 25

Episode 25 of Comic Timing has finally arrived. We are at one quarter of one hundred, woo! To celebrate, I am joined by Denise Gronda of the Birds of Geek Podcast, Silver Bullet Comics columnist Mitch Montgomery, and Tony Guagliardo, otherwise known as MobileHome on the Comic Geek Speak forums. Along with myself, and a red van with a Florida license plate, we form The New York City Rental Car Riders! We all took the ride over to Reading, PA for Comic Geek Speak’s Episode 200 celebration, and we have our recap here. We also touch on the future of comic book podcasts, whether or not gathering such as this will continue to grow in size as the years go by, and what it is like to be part of such a thriving forum community. That, and we touch on some comments left on Episode 24. Thanks to Tony, Mitch, and Denise for such a great time, and thanks for the ride!

As always, you can send e-mail and comments to comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for Comic Timing on Podcast Alley.

Finally, there is a Listener Survey for the show that you can take. The link to the survey is here. So if you have the time, please fill it out, and thanks in advance!

Damian Smith of The Furnace joins myself as we discuss one of Marvel Comics most powerful and maniacal villains…Dr. Doom. We discuss everything from what led him down the path to villainy, where he is now, and where he may go in the future. It is a great discussion, and well worth the listen, so listen in!

Hey guys. Here is the latest episode focusing on Comic book animation. Matt S. stops on by for the first hour or so, back from his week off, and he has plenty to say on the subject. And that is not all. We also have Bruce Rosenberger, one of the stars of the fantastic Komicskast and the terrific Comics Podcast Crossover! Bruce joins in at around the five minute mark, and is there until the episode is over. We discuss our favorite comic book animations, where the business may be going in the future, what Marvel can do to improve their animation ventures, some animation that has not aged well and some that has, and plenty more.

My thanks to Bruce for joining us, and my thanks to The New York Comic Con for sponsoring the show. If you would like to send Comic Timing an e-mail, you can do so at our e-mail address, comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for us over at Podcast Alley.

Comic Timing – Episode 20B

The second part of our discussion on 52 has arrived! David D., John Mayo and I discuss key characters such as The Black Adam Family, The question and Rene Montoya, and we go in depth into the content found on Rip Hunter’s chalkboard. Want to know what half this stuff means? Listen to the episode!

Apologies for the lateness here, as it took me forever and a day to edit this one. Next week we will hopefully FINALLY have our long awaited Steve Bryant interview, which should be a great time for all involved.

If you would like to e-mail the show, you can do so at comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for us over at Podcast Alley.

Thanks go out to John Mayo and David D. for joining me for this one, and thanks for everyone for listening.

Comic Timing – Episode 20A

It has been a while since we have had to do a two parter, so now is as good a time as any! Comic Timing Episode 20 focuses upon the world of 52, and the characters surrounding the title. For this episode, I am joined by David D. from the Comic Geek Speak Forums, and return guest John Mayo of The Mayo Report and his brand new column on Comic Book Resources! There are spoilers for 52 in this episode, so if you are waiting for the trades to come out, this one may not be for you. We discuss such topics as who may be behind the Supernova mask, Lex Luthor and his Infinity Inc team, the life and deceptions of Booster Gold, and so on. It makes for great discussion, and I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it.

As always, you can send your questions and comments to comictiming@gmail.com, and if you have the time, please vote for Comic Timing on Podcast Alley.

Episode 20B should be released no later than Tuesday night, and will focus mainly upon The Black Adam Family and Rip Hunter and his chalkboards. Thanks again to David D. and John Mayo for coming on the show, and hope you come on back for Part B!

Comic Timing – Episode 21: Evan Dorkin Interview

Hey folks. Comic Timing is back to its regularly scheduled episodes, and this week, we are joined by one of the funniest comic creators around. He has worked on such projects as Milk and Cheese, Dork, and Bill and Teds Excellent Comic Book, and has also written for animated series such as Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Superman The Animated Series, and he crated the Adult Swim pilot, Welcome To Eltingville. This man is of course, Evan Dorkin. Evan stops by for a whopping two and a half hours to discuss his career, his thoughts on modern day comics, what companies can do to get kids back into comics, and a whole lot more.

I want to thank Evan for joining us, and I would also like to remind everybody that Episode 20 will be released next week, as Matt and I are joined by Steve Bryant of Athena Voltaire, and Damian Smith will present his second Rogues Gallery, this time on Dr. Doom!

If you would like to send us an e-mail, you can do so over at comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for us over at Podcast Alley.

Hope everybody enjoys the interview, thanks for downloading, and we will see you all next week!

Comic Timing – Episode 19.5

Hey folks. Well, it was bound to happen eventually. For the first time since the lost Episode 5, an episode of Comic Timing has been scrapped. Ian Levenstein goes solo for this .5 episode as all is explained, as well as when you should expect to hear our interview with Steve Bryant eventually. I also touch on art discontinuity, and how it has appeared most recently in a title it should not appear in: Civil War Frontline.

As always, you can e-mail Comic Timing at comictiming@gmail.com, and please vote for us over at Podcast Alley. The NPR piece I mentioned which includes my Comic Books: Not Just For Kids Anymore segment can be found at http://www.nhpr.org/node/11385.

Also, if you can take the time, please fill out the Podtrac survey now located on our web site. This will allow Comic Timing to get a better idea on its listenership, and to also find sponsors for the show. Thanks guys!

That is all for this week. Again, apologies for this, but I hope everybody enjoys this truncated episode. So thanks for listening, and thanks for downloading.
