Comic Timing – Episode 15

Episode 15 has arrived, and with it comes the first ever 22 Pages for Comic Timing. Annihilation #1 is the title in question, and to discuss this book, and a little bit of the background behind cosmic comics of the past, Matthew Kramer aka DarthKramer joins us to share his expertise on the topic at hand. Matt S. also stops by as the resident outsider, a fan of Marvel books but not usually cosmic titles. How will he feel about Annihilation? The answer may surprise you. A reminder that Spoilers for Annihilation #1, the Annihilation Prologue and miniseries, and other former Giffen series such as Thanos and Drax will be found in this episode, so if you plan on reading these and do not wish to be spoiled, please read them, then come on back when you are ready. Also apologies for any lack of editing, as I wanted to get this episode out as planned today, so I only really had enough time to edit half the show before mixing it down, as I have a previous engagement later today.

Comic Timing – Civil War Delay Special

As covered on Newsarama and in other places, Civil War, Marvel’s newest Special Event, has been delayed until September for issue 4, and issue 5 will come out in November. Just what will these delays do to sales for the book and its tie-ins, and what will it do to comics book retailers? Join John Mayo, Matt S., Wayne Cordova and myself as we discuss all facets of the situation.

Comic Timing – Episode 14

It’s here! Episode 14 is released, and it is one of our best episodes yet. Peter Rios of Comic Geek Speak joins David Price and myself for a discussion on the ramifications, and benefits of being a comic geek. Should you hide your passion from those close to you, or is it quite simply another hobby and nothing to be ashamed of? We also touch on the media effect on the social stigma associated with comic books, what TV shows like Heroes and Who Wants To Be a Superhero? might do to help comic geeks get accepted, significant moments that led to us accepting our comic geekdom, how comics can help you relate to younger generations, and we announce the winner of our iTunes art contest. Speaking of the new face of Comic Timing, with this episode David Price steps down from his position of co-host to pursue a new project, which I am eagerly anticipating. David will still be back from time to time, but simply will not be on every episode. He will be missed, but you’ll hear the Man of 1000 Podcasts around, and will also have plenty of great guests to talk comics on the show. A special episode of Comic Timing, episode 14B, will be released no later than Sunday, which will be tackling the recent news development: the delay of Civil War.

Comic Timing – Episode 13

hey folks. Well, David Price has made it back safely from Wizard World Chicago, and on this week’s episode, we discuss the convention. Along with David, we are joined by two other attendees, Brian Salazar and Chris Neseman from one of the best comics podcasts around, Around Comics. During the episode, we touch on the overall scope of the crowd, creators and comic books that were discovered at the con, the evolution of Dave Wachter and Mike Norton, and a whole lot more. There were portions of the show that had to be cut due to a sounds glitch halfway through the episode that led to myself getting out of sync with the rest of the panelists, but I do hope that you all still manage to enjoy what was able to be make it through, as what did make it is well worth the listen. And thanks again to Chris and Sal for joining us, and we hope to have them back again sometime.

Comic Timing – Episode 12

Well, episode 12 of Comic Timing has finally arrived, and it is a whopper at that! Derek Coward of The Deliberate Noise Network of podcasts join David and I for a nice hour and 40 minutes of discussion on comic books of the 1990’s. We specifically look into Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefeld, and whether or not they deserve the blame most people give them for the eventual fall of the speculator era of comics. Are there others to blame? Are there certain aspects of 1990’s comic books we would like to see back in comics today? Comic companies we go into incluse Valiant, Malibu, Milestone, Marvel, DC, Image, Acclaim, and a whole lot more.
