Comic Timing Episode 256 – July 2025 Previews

The first full Previews episode in the post-Diamond era is upon us! Okay fine, Diamond still exists, we’re just not going to trust them until when (if?) they get their ducks fully in a row. Highlights include the conclusion of Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers, a linear collection of Crisis on Infinite Earth including the crossovers, the launch of Matt Fraction’s Batman, the Deadpool/Batman crossover we never knew we wanted, new Star Trek from Kelly and Lanzing called The Last Starship, Ronda Rousey wrote a comic, a very different zombie story from Tate Brombal and Jacob Phillips at Image, friggin Street Sharks, and so much more!

Comic Timing Episode 253 – June 2025 Previews

As June comes to a close, so does the end of an era. The June 2025 catalog marks the final physical copy of Diamond’s Previews catalog. While the format of the media may change, the format of this episode will not, as we’ll be pivoting to individual publisher catalogs and mostly Lunar for the foreseeable feature, checking in occasionally with Diamond as well. As such, Ian, Murd and Raph tackle the Image, Dark Horse, Boom, DC Connect, Marvel Previews, IDW, Diamond and Lunar catalogs here, with books mainly set for August 2025 release. Highlights include a Rick Remender and Daniel Acuña’s anthropomorphic war story Escape, a new collection of Giffen and DeMatteis’ Hero Squared at Boom, W. Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo and Chris O’Halloran from Ice Cream Man bring their odd horror sensibilities to DC with Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum, Kyle Higgins goes full manga with his Elseworlds Immortal Legend Batman, G. Willow Wilson takes on Black Cat at Marvel, Jason Aaron returns to Duckburg with Scrooge – Earth’s Mightiest Duck, Christopher Priest launches his own reboot of Red Sonja with Sonja: Reborn, a comic book continuation of Star Trek: Voyager at IDW, a new superhero universe at Aspen, and tons more. NOTE: Items mentioned in the Diamond Previews are not guaranteed to come out as advertised; you can reference books also listed in Lunar’s catalog, and others (like most Dynamite books) will see the light of day in the coming months.

Comic Timing Episode 240 – Diamond’s Looking…Rough

There’s a whole lot of serious stuff to discuss this episode, as Ian is joined by Kris and Jamal at start, then Raph and Donovan shortly thereafter. Topics include updates on Diamond’s bankruptcy and some decisions that have been made since, including Massive Publishing and Mad Cave joining up with Lunar Valiant halting their relaunch entirely until a new distribution solution emerges, Boom heading to Penguin Random House, and Two Morrows looking for alternatives. We also discuss what could have potentially been done to avoid this fate, if there’s a way out for Diamond, and what might come next for distribution.

Then, we go into the allegations against Neil Gaiman, DC’s response, Sandman ending after Season Two, and how we as fans can discuss things like this seriously while divorcing ourselves from the author’s works. Much less seriously, we talk Batman: Caped Crusader, our reactions to James Gunn’s Superman trailer and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps, Creature Commandos, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, some recent reads and more.
