Comic Timing Episode 268 – The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Kirby & Netflix

A rare weekend release, as Ian ventures into Brooklyn to hang with Kris in person. First, they discuss their thoughts on the opera adaptation of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, which will be returning to The Metropolitan Opera House in February for an encore performance. They then touch on Netflix purchasing Warner Bros as the news broke earlier in the day, and BlueTeam will go further in depth on the topic with our next episode. They then close on visiting The Kirby Museum’s latest pop-up exhibit at One Art Space in Manhattan, Jack Kirby: From the Ghetto to the Cosmos, and the slightly unhinged 1986 public access interview with Kirby they got to see. Plus forgetting the mayor works at City Hall, the Japanese game is called shogi, and more!

And as mentioned, here’s a link to the Imaginary Worlds Podcast on Theater Effects, and the LikeStoriesofOld YouTube video on Haptic vs Optic storytelling in movies.

Comic Timing – Episode 199: Joker Movie Review’s On You

We’re back, baby! For the first time in a few months, the crew gathers together to discuss the latest movie out of DC Comics, Joker. But lo, this movie is not all fun and games, and neither is this review. Join Kris, Raph, Brent and Ian as we dissect the film, and try and understand just what exactly Todd Phillips was trying to accomplish with this piece of cinema. Does it live up to the awards hype, or does this particular joke fall flat? Where does Joaquin Phoenix rank on the long list of live action and animated Jokers we’ve experienced over the years? Does Robert De Niro make a convincing Johnny Carson stand-in? Listen in to find out!
