We reflect on how our reading habits and the industry itself have changed in twenty years, share some curated facts about the show, and then we conclude with an in-depth and spoilerific review of DC’s latest film, Supergirl. Comic Timing Episode 287 – Two At Start, Four At Finish

You get a little bit of everything this episode, all the way down to who is on it! Ian and Brent start out old school as a duo, touching on the trailer for the new Batman: Knightfall animated movie and how the 90s keeps on coming back as strong as ever. They then switch over to the ever-increasing cost of conventions right as Brandon joins in on the conversation, My Adventures with Superman Season Three and need for a “Previously,on…”, and then go into how the heck Marvel can continue to have Magneto be a Holocaust survivor in the year 2026 and beyond, and some discussion on the size of Omnibuses (and this one kid who will soon steal all our podcasting jobs). Finally, Kris joins us for her spoiler-free thoughts on the new Supergirl movie, which we will give our full spoiler-filled review on our next episode, which also is our 20th Anniversary Live Zoom, which will take place on July 1st at 7:30pm ET (doors open at 7pm ET)! Comic Timing Episode 269 – Warner Bros. Goes Tudum

We’ve got the full Blue Team gathered together for this end of year bash, and boy is there tons to talk about. Ian, Brent, Donovan, Kris, Jamal, Raph and Brandon start things off with the ten thousand pound elephant in the room, aka Warner Bros. being sold to Netflix, unless Paramount uses hostility (and a steel chair) to buy them first. This includes how this might affect DC Comics publishing arm, as well as their movies, and other potential ramifications and changes. They then touch on some DC and Marvel crossovers, specifically the Batman/Deadpool and Deadpool/Batman one-shots, and the now upcoming Superman/Spider-Man crossover coming in March 2026! Other topics include how headlines can blow passing statements out of proportion (the Sara Pichelli Miles Morales hubbub in particular), the original untouched Star Wars movies finally getting a rerelease, some further Kamen Rider talk, recent reads including the first three issues of Matt Fraction’s Batman, DC KO and DC KO: Knightfall, Spider-Man ’94, Dono’s year-long adventure reading the Argentinian comic book Cybersix, Moriarty: The Patriot from Shonen Jump, and yes, Dynamite’s ongoing Lion King comic.

Comic Timing Episode 230 – Kaiju Talk with Shawn Pryor

It’s been a very long time, but this episode, Comic Timing welcomes back one of its favorite guests. Ian, Brandon and Raph are joined by the one, the only Shawn Pryor, as they discuss his upcoming book out of Epic Ink, Kaiju Unleashed: An Illustrated Guide to the World of Strange Beasts. The group go into everything from Godzilla to King Kong and back again, including the Rankin Bass kaiju collaborations between America and Japan (with an amazing deviation to their Return of the King animated film), the attempts to make the Hannah-Barbera Godzilla animated series as close to the Japanese as possible while dealing with rights issues and standards and practices, economic turmoil leading to a downturn in movies, the differences in the Showa, Heisei, Millennium and Reiwa era, failed Marvel kaiju collaborations, the uselessness of Minya, how comics influenced kaiju (and the reverse), when Dr. Pepper made Godzilla’s world taste better, the insanity that are Toho’s Frankenstein kaiju movies, and so much more. Earmuffs as usual, this is a Shawn Pryor episode, so we’re real and raw, like we should be.
