Comic Timing Episode 273 – January 2026 Previews

Happy birthday to me, it’s this month’s Previews! Murd and Ian are back at it again, streamlining the process to touch on publishers already part of Lunar’s main catalog as they come up in it, just to make life easier. That means Image is later on in the episode than usual, but otherwise everything else is pretty similar. Highlights include DC and Marvel’s Superman/Spider-Man crossover, a facsimile of Marvel Team-Up issue 14 featuring Invincible and Spider-Man, Dan Abnett returning to Marvel cosmic with Imperial Guardians (Darkhawk is in it so Raph is buying it), a Disney Villains: Gaston and Thundercats x Silverhawks at Dynamite, Bible 2: King of the Jews, Baby!, Doug Wagner’s Narco, SuperCreepshow, and more!

Comic Timing Episode 269 – Warner Bros. Goes Tudum

We’ve got the full Blue Team gathered together for this end of year bash, and boy is there tons to talk about. Ian, Brent, Donovan, Kris, Jamal, Raph and Brandon start things off with the ten thousand pound elephant in the room, aka Warner Bros. being sold to Netflix, unless Paramount uses hostility (and a steel chair) to buy them first. This includes how this might affect DC Comics publishing arm, as well as their movies, and other potential ramifications and changes. They then touch on some DC and Marvel crossovers, specifically the Batman/Deadpool and Deadpool/Batman one-shots, and the now upcoming Superman/Spider-Man crossover coming in March 2026! Other topics include how headlines can blow passing statements out of proportion (the Sara Pichelli Miles Morales hubbub in particular), the original untouched Star Wars movies finally getting a rerelease, some further Kamen Rider talk, recent reads including the first three issues of Matt Fraction’s Batman, DC KO and DC KO: Knightfall, Spider-Man ’94, Dono’s year-long adventure reading the Argentinian comic book Cybersix, Moriarty: The Patriot from Shonen Jump, and yes, Dynamite’s ongoing Lion King comic.

Comic Timing Episode 265- RIP (?) Super Sentai, Peacemaker S2 and more with Julian Lytle

As news broke this week on the possible farewell to the Super Sentai branding in Japan, we here at Comic Timing had to have longtime friend of the show Julian Lytle on to talk about it! Ian, Brandon, Donovan and Brent are also here to discuss just what the heck is going on with the franchise, how it all ties in to what is or isn’t happening with Power Rangers here in The States, how Bandai and Toei both can grow their reach in foreign markets, especially as Japan takes over the box office here in America and Gashapon has finally caught on, and more. Then we delve into a spoilery discussion on Peacemaker Season 2 and some convo on whether Matt Reeves Batman should be part of the DCU, some Marvel Zombies talk, our favorite superhero films of the year, recent reads, and even more where that came from!

And here’s the YouTube video version:

Show notes:

Comic Timing Episode 258 – Fantastic Beers and Where To Drink Them

While Ian is visiting Florida, it’s the perfect opportunity for Ian and Brent to record in person! This time they choose to record indoors as opposed to in a park, as it was hotter than Mephisto’s stomping grounds out there. Shoutout to Union Taproom & Pizza Kitchen for letting us pour ourselves a brew and then sit in the corner for almost two hours recording inside their lovely establishment. Topics include Brent’s thoughts on The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Ian’s complete take on Ironheart now that he finished it, Superman hitting digital earlier than anticipated, Brent read a whole lot of Something is Killing the Children, some further Jurassic World: Rebirth discussion, Comixology Unlimited is still a thing (for now), Ian dabbles with One World Under Doom, Brent experiences Zdarsky’s new Captain America and his subsequent new history, Dan Slott’s Superman Unlimited is pure gold (literally), the blahs of Batman: H2sh, a few other recent reads, and more! And this episode is audio only, thanks to a Zoom H2 recorder that is almost as old as this very podcast.

Comic Timing Episode 255 – Superman Movie Review

Would it even be a movie review of a Superman property on Comic Timing if the episode itself wasn’t longer than the movie? I say thee nay! Ian, Brent, Kris, Donovan, Brandon and Raph are joined for this one by host of the Star Joes podcast and creator of the Stealth Hammer comic, Ryan Drost! He shares his firsthand knowledge from being an extra on the set of the movie when it filmed in Cleveland, how the movie’s filming was welcomed by the city at large, his experiences being up close with David Corenswet and James Gunn, and the awesome Easter Eggs that are the street names of Metropolis’ city grid. We also go through the movie as a whole, what worked, what didn’t, some passionate back and forth on whether what didn’t work actually didn’t work, the glory that is Guy Gardner’s mop top, Krypto is a bad dog, Lois is a reporter, Jimmy Olsen gets all the ladies, Lex Luthor is Musky, Mr. Terrific lives up to his name, and so much more. That also includes where this new universe may go next, and also where it’s been before. Punk rock, baby!

Comic Timing Episode 242 – February 2025 Previews

Just in the nick of time, February’s Previews episode is out! And this one…took some doing. For one thing, for the first time, we made the executive decision to skip Diamond’s Previews catalog (with the exception of two Dynamite entries at the end of the episode). And how did Murd and Ian manage to still put out a nearly three-hour episode without the Diamond catalog? THEY FOUND A WAY. That way includes the Lunar Distribution catalog, and Penguin Random House’s offering, along with the usual Image, DC and Marvel catalogs. Here’s a link to where Ian grabs the catalogs monthly, and here’s a link to Penguin Random House’s offerings as well. Highlights include Dan Slott’s first Superman issue as the Summer of Superman begins, six Silent Interlude issues of G.I. Joe, Golden Rage: Mother Knows Best, Godzilla versus friggin Spider-Man AND the latest Amazing Spider-Man relaunch, Craig Thompson’s Ginseng Roots, and so much more. And please, Penguin Random House, start separating your catalog into individual publishers rather than single issues and then collections, that’d be great, thanks.

Comic Timing Episode 224 – SDCC News & Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Review

We’re back, and there’s TONS to discuss! Donovan, Jamal, Brent, Raph, Brandon and Kris join Ian to go through a whole bunch of San Diego Comic Con news, including the return of the DC Bullet logo, DC’s Absolute Comics line, Mark Waid and Dan Mora on Justice League Unlimited, Jeff Lemire on Justice Society, Ram V’s Fourth World, and of course, Marvel’s Hall H announcements for Fantastic Four: First Steps and the shaky cam footage we totally didn’t watch we swear, and the Doctor Doom Downey Jr. reveal. Then, we pivot to an in-depth and spoilery review of the long awaited third movie in the Deapool franchise, Deadpool & Wolverine (starts at 1:11:00). Finally, a discussion of Roy Thomas’ claim that his editorial assistance has earned him a creator credit on Wolverine. SNIKT, bub. Plus some Creature Commandos talk and THE WAR WHEEEEEEEL!
